Laundry Detergent

You can find these recipes all over the internet, but I’ve been making my own detergent for a few years now and this is the easiest way for me…

Laundry Detergent

1 box Borax

1 box Super Washing Soda

1 box Baking Soda

1 large container Oxi Clean

3 bars Fels-Naptha

The Fels-Naptha looks like grated cheese, but don’t eat it.

Grate Fels-Naptha into slivers.  Mix all ingredients together in a large bucket.  Store in air tight containers.  Use 1 TBSP per load of laundry. It smells good, but you can add a scent booster if you want it to smell even better.

It makes this much. I’m not sure how much that comes to, technically. The Oxi Clean buckets are the best containers for storing it.

This amount lasts six months for my family of three.  It only costs $21.12 to make it this way (that’s $3.52 a month!).  I buy all of my ingredients from Wal-Mart down the laundry detergent isle.

$3.38 Borax

$3.24 Super Washing Soda

$2.12 Baking Soda

$9.47 Oxi Clean

$2.91 Fels-Naptha (3 bars @ .97 cents each)

$21.12 Total
